Nature and magic is all around us. Within us. Everywhere. The power of the seasons, the power to calm, the power to heal, the ebb and flow of the tide, the land, sun, sea, stars, moon. It is time to get back to basics.

It's time to get back to nature.

The term ‘Fluffy’

UK Traditional Witchcraft Hoodoo Rootworker Folk Magic Witch - UK traditional witch & rootworker information about traditional witchcraft, UK hoodoo, conjure, homesteading, foraging & natural healing. UK folk magic.

If you are a Witch, the term ‘fluffy’ is banded about on a daily basis.  The actual dictionary definition of ‘Fluffy’ is:

fluff·y (flŭfˈē)

adjective fluffier fluff·i·er, fluffiest fluff·i·est

  1. a. Of, relating to, or resembling fluff.
    b. Covered with fluff.
  2. Light and airy; soft: fluffy curls; a fluffy soufflé.
  3. a. Light or frivolous: a fluffy musical comedy.
    b. Lacking depth or precision; fuzzy: hazy, fluffy thinking that only confused the matter.

Basically, a Fluffy is someone who ‘plays the part’ but has no real craft.  An airy fairy wannabe.

Now, there are a lot of Trad Witches out there, who will say that all Wiccan’s are fluffy.  Now, you have to admit, there are a few, but I have also met a few fluffy Trads – 😉  What they do not seem to realise that by being very anti-Wicca they are actually alienating a large proportion of the witch/pagan community.   If you are banging on about deep dark spells all the time then you are probably trying too hard (and maybe trying to impress?) and that would actually make you a wannabe.

Because I chose to have a giggle along the way, I have often been accused of being fluffy.   This couldn’t be further from the truth.  I just think life is hard enough as it is without making life harder and getting stressed over everything.   Just because I do normal every day to day things and have a smile on my face, doesn’t make me any less of a Traditional Witch, it just means I have a sense of humour.  Something of which I think a lot of people have lost these days.

The craft isn’t something you dip in and out of.  It is your way of life.  You don’t have to think about it, you are it.  I am proud to be who I am and very proud to be part of a Trad Witch family, I am incredibly serious about my way of life but I just don’t see why I can’t bring a smile to others at the same time?

I even like the colour pink… *gasp!* 😉

  1. I’ve always found it amusing how everyone insists on either having a ‘label’ or labeling others! 😀 I find, much like yourself, that many people may follow a certain ‘path’, but continue to learn and possibly even integrate ideas from others. I think it’s more important to try and be the best at being ‘you’. Always striving for a better me!

Then again, maybe I’m just a bit fluffy. LOL

Ok, I AM a bit fluffy . . . . like pink and love to laugh too!

  2. I love this blog. I am very light and airy in nature and have been accused of being shallow in my walk with witchcraft. I simply think think what you wish I know my heart and so does the goddess and god. I love to laugh , sing and joke. I celebrate the bright moments and try to forget the heavy ones. And what ya know, my favorite color just happens to be pink !

  3. I actually do lurk in the deep dark side of things, and I’m not trying to be edgy, I’ve been there since I was about 8 years old and have a list of reasons, but sometimes I need my fluffier sisters! They do things I cannot even when I try my best. We all need light, sparkle, humour, frivolity, whimsy. It takes guts to stand in the light too.
